Endodontists

The Endodontic Department provides state-of-the-art root canal treatment in support of comprehensive dental care. We are on the cutting edge of endodontic research that involves the newest advances in materials and techniques. Through our use of precise microscopic techniques, abscessed teeth can now be saved and maintained for a lifetime.

Fax 706-721-8184 - Referral required. Referrals must be faxed to the Endodontic Department from the referring dentist before an appointment can be scheduled. The fax should include the patient’s name, address, contact phone number, date of birth, and tooth number to be treated. When the fax is received, the patient will be contacted and an appointment will be made. Located in Clinic #6 on the second floor.

Dr. Bob Loushine

Dr. Loushine, is a board-certified endodontist and the Director of the Endodontic Residency Program. He has 30 years of clinical experience and his services include surgical and non-surgical root canal treatment. Dr. Loushine has lectured nationally and internationally and has co-authored a surgical textbook and published over 40 articles with an emphasis on surgical and microscopic endodontics. Prior to joining the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia, he was the Endodontic Residency Program Director in the U.S. Army at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Dr. Loushine works closely with his referring dentists and encourages his patients to maintain their natural teeth through state-of-the-art delivery of endodontic and restorative therapy. Dr. Steven Roberts

Dr. Roberts received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry and completed his residency in endodontics at Fort Gordon, GA. He is a Diplomate of The American Board of Endodontics. While stationed at Fort Gordon, Dr. Roberts served as the Deputy Director of the US Army Endodontic Residency Program. He has a wide variety of research interests encompassing most aspects of endodontics. MORE INFO | SROBERTS@mcg.edu


Dr. Norman Weller

R. Norman Weller, D.M.D., M.S. is Professor and Chairman of the Endodontic Department at the Medical College of Georgia. He received his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1972, his postgraduate training in endodontics from the U.S. Army Endodontic Residency Program in 1979, and a Masters degree from George Washington University in 1979. Dr. Weller is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He retired from the U.S. Army Dental Corps in 1992. Prior to joining the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia, he was the Director of the General Dentistry Residency Program (One Year) at Fort Jackson, SC, the U.S. Army Endodontic Residency Training Program at Fort Gordon, GA, and the Endodontic Postgraduate Training Program at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Weller was also the Director of the Endodontic Residency Program at MCG from 1995 to 1998.
