LATEST NEWS FROM THE DPG

The Dental Practice Group of the MCG School of Dentistry is pleased to announce that it has completed its $1 million pledge to the building fund for the new dental school.  The gift is the second-largest to date, behind Woodruff Foundation’s $3 million pledge.

Three years ago, the faculty practice group pledged to support the new building initiative, and the foundation has been making payments on the pledge from interest on its investments.  However, with the GSFIC’s requirement that funding for the building be in place prior to groundbreaking, the DPG Board made its decision to accelerate payments and complete the pledge immediately.

Dr. Travis Smith, DPG Board President, says the group’s decision will help allow groundbreaking to proceed on schedule.   “The pledge was initially made to show the faculty’s support for the future of dentistry in Georgia.  We are very excited at this point in time to help the growth and expansion of the school by facilitating its forward movement,” he stated.  “DPG’s facilities in the new school will be prominent, with ease of access on the ground floor, a separate entrance and all new equipment.  We stand to gain a lot from our investment into the new building.”
